Postby admin on Sun Oct 21, 2007 12:17 pm

If you have any problems registering at all, please use the Enquiries form at the top of the page to contact us and we will create an account for you. Please specify the username you would like to have when you contact.

The Unofficial Weymouth Football Club Fans Forum use a simple registration system aimed at cutting down on the volume of unwanted traffic and website spammers.

1. Click the 'register' link at the top right of the message board screen
2. On the next screen fill in your details, Items marked with a * are required unless stated otherwise... A valid email address is vital to enable account activation......

Note that the first four boxes in the registration section are the only ones you have to complete. All others are optional. Registering creates a profile for you, by default other people will not be able to see your member details or use your email address for spamming purposes. Finally, the Preferences section allows you to set the way you want to use the boards.

PREFERENCES

Always show my e-mail address:
If this is set to yes, your email address will be displayed on any posts you make and in your profile. If this is set to no it will not be displayed anywhere on the boards.

Hide your online status:
When you log in to the site you will notice at the bottom of the message board screen a box showing you the usernames of people currently looking at the boards. If you do not wish your username to appear here when you are logged in, set this to yes.

Always notify me of replies:
If this is set to yes an email will automatically be sent to you everytime someone replies to a post you have made.

Pop up window on new Private Message:
These boards have a built in private messaging system, explained below. If this option is set to yes, a small window will pop up to tell you you have a new private message when one arrives. Note that users with pop up blocker software installed will not get these windows anyway.

Always attach my signature:
If you entered a signature above, setting this to on will always attach it to any mail you send.

Always allow BBCode:
Set this to yes if you wish to see bold or underlined text people may put into messages for emphasis, like this one.

Always allow HTML:
Set this to on if you wish to see posts people have made which employ the language used in making webpages.

Always enable Smilies:
Set this to on if you wish to use smilies in your posts.

Ignore the remaining boxes unless you wish to alter the timezone you are in, and click submit.

4. Click on the user agreement on the next screen

An email will then be sent to the email address you provided during the process showing details you have set and advising you that the board administrator will soon activate your account.

A second email will be sent to you when your account has been activated by the board administrator.

5. Return to the message board page and log in

To do this either enter your username and password in the box at the foot of the main message board page, or click the 'log in' link at the top right of the main message board screen.

CHANGING YOUR PREFERENCES

When logged in, any preferences set during the registration process can be changed by clicking the 'profile' link at the top right of the main message boards page. When changing your preferences you do not need to re-enter your password or email address unless those fields are what you're changing.

PRIVATE MESSAGES

The boards also have a built in personal messaging system that acts as a kind of internal email. If you have been sent a message from another board user the link to the message area at the top right of the screen will say 'You have 1 new private message' click that link to read it. To send messages to other users, click the same link. If you have no new messages it will read 'you have no new messages'. You can still send messages yourself by clicking this link.

If you have any other questions or have requests for info on other areas of the boards, please contact me or post them here.

We look forward to having you all as valid members of the Unofficial Weymouth Football Club Fans Forum
